2019-12-27py/runtime: Don't allocate iter buf for user-defined types.Damien George
A user-defined type that defines __iter__ doesn't need any memory to be pre-allocated for its iterator (because it can't use such memory). So optimise for this case by not allocating the iter-buf.
2018-06-08py/objtype: Don't expose mp_obj_instance_attr().Damien George
mp_obj_is_instance_type() can be used instead to check for instance types.
2017-12-12py/objtype: Refactor object's handling of __new__ to not create 2 objs.Damien George
Before this patch, if a user defined the __new__() function for a class then two instances of that class would be created: once before __new__ is called and once during the __new__ call (assuming the user creates some instance, eg using super().__new__, which is most of the time). The first one was then discarded. This refactor makes it so that a new instance is only created if the user __new__ function doesn't exist.
2017-07-31all: Use the name MicroPython consistently in commentsAlexander Steffen
There were several different spellings of MicroPython present in comments, when there should be only one.
2017-07-18all: Unify header guard usage.Alexander Steffen
The code conventions suggest using header guards, but do not define how those should look like and instead point to existing files. However, not all existing files follow the same scheme, sometimes omitting header guards altogether, sometimes using non-standard names, making it easy to accidentally pick a "wrong" example. This commit ensures that all header files of the MicroPython project (that were not simply copied from somewhere else) follow the same pattern, that was already present in the majority of files, especially in the py folder. The rules are as follows. Naming convention: * start with the words MICROPY_INCLUDED * contain the full path to the file * replace special characters with _ In addition, there are no empty lines before #ifndef, between #ifndef and one empty line before #endif. #endif is followed by a comment containing the name of the guard macro. py/grammar.h cannot use header guards by design, since it has to be included multiple times in a single C file. Several other files also do not need header guards as they are only used internally and guaranteed to be included only once: * MICROPY_MPHALPORT_H * mpconfigboard.h * mpconfigport.h * mpthreadport.h * pin_defs_*.h * qstrdefs*.h
2016-01-11py: Change first arg of type.make_new from mp_obj_t to mp_obj_type_t*.Damien George
The first argument to the type.make_new method is naturally a uPy type, and all uses of this argument cast it directly to a pointer to a type structure. So it makes sense to just have it a pointer to a type from the very beginning (and a const pointer at that). This patch makes such a change, and removes all unnecessary casting to/from mp_obj_t.
2016-01-11py: Change type of .make_new and .call args: mp_uint_t becomes size_t.Damien George
This patch changes the type signature of .make_new and .call object method slots to use size_t for n_args and n_kw (was mp_uint_t. Makes code more efficient when mp_uint_t is larger than a machine word. Doesn't affect ports when size_t and mp_uint_t have the same size.
2015-05-04py: Check that arg to object.__new__ is a user-defined type.Damien George
Addresses issue #1203.
2015-04-11py: Combine load_attr and store_attr type methods into one (attr).Damien George
This simplifies the API for objects and reduces code size (by around 400 bytes on Thumb2, and around 2k on x86). Performance impact was measured with Pystone score, but change was barely noticeable.
2015-01-07py: Add option to cache map lookup results in bytecode.Damien George
This is a simple optimisation inspired by JITing technology: we cache in the bytecode (using 1 byte) the offset of the last successful lookup in a map. This allows us next time round to check in that location in the hash table (mp_map_t) for the desired entry, and if it's there use that entry straight away. Otherwise fallback to a normal map lookup. Works for LOAD_NAME, LOAD_GLOBAL, LOAD_ATTR and STORE_ATTR opcodes. On a few tests it gives >90% cache hit and greatly improves speed of code. Disabled by default. Enabled for unix and stmhal ports.
2015-01-01py: Move to guarded includes, everywhere in py/ core.Damien George
Addresses issue #1022.
2014-11-03py: Fix builtin callable so it checks user-defined instances correctly.Damien George
Addresses issue #953.
2014-05-03Add license header to (almost) all files.Damien George
Blanket wide to all .c and .h files. Some files originating from ST are difficult to deal with (license wise) so it was left out of those. Also merged modpyb.h, modos.h, modstm.h and modtime.h in stmhal/.
2014-05-02objtype: Rename mp_obj_class_t -> mp_obj_instance_t and move to local header.Paul Sokolovsky
TODO: Rename methods.
