2020-07-06Primitive persistent arraysMaxime Dénès
Persistent arrays expose a functional interface but are implemented using an imperative data structure. The OCaml implementation is based on Jean-Christophe Filliâtre's. Co-authored-by: Benjamin Grégoire <Benjamin.Gregoire@inria.fr> Co-authored-by: Gaëtan Gilbert <gaetan.gilbert@skyskimmer.net>
2020-04-06Use lists instead of arrays in evar instances.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
This corresponds more naturally to the use we make of them, as we don't need fast indexation but we instead keep pushing terms on top of them.

2019-11-01Add primitive float computation in Coq kernelGuillaume Bertholon
Beware of 0. = -0. issue for primitive floats The IEEE 754 declares that 0. and -0. are treated equal but we cannot say that this is true with Leibniz equality. Therefore we must patch the equality and the total comparison inside the kernel to prevent inconsistency.

2019-02-04Primitive integersMaxime Dénès
This work makes it possible to take advantage of a compact representation for integers in the entire system, as opposed to only in some reduction machines. It is useful for heavily computational applications, where even constructing terms is not possible without such a representation. Concretely, it replaces part of the retroknowledge machinery with a primitive construction for integers in terms, and introduces a kind of FFI which maps constants to operators (on integers). Properties of these operators are expressed as explicit axioms, whereas they were hidden in the retroknowledge-based approach. This has been presented at the Coq workshop and some Coq Working Groups, and has been used by various groups for STM trace checking, computational analysis, etc. Contributions by Guillaume Bertholon and Pierre Roux <Pierre.Roux@onera.fr> Co-authored-by: Benjamin Grégoire <Benjamin.Gregoire@inria.fr> Co-authored-by: Vincent Laporte <Vincent.Laporte@fondation-inria.fr>

2018-05-08[api] Move universe syntax to `Glob_term`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move syntax for universes from `Misctypes` to `Glob_term`. There is basically no reason that this type is there instead of the proper file, as witnessed by the diff. Unfortunately the change is not compatible due to moving a type to a higher level in the hierarchy, but we expect few problems. This change plus the related PR (#6515) moving universe declaration to their proper place make `Misctypes` into basically an empty file save for introduction patterns.
2018-05-04[api] Rename `global_reference` to `GlobRef.t` to follow kernel style.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
In #6092, `global_reference` was moved to `kernel`. It makes sense to go further and use the current kernel style for names. This has a good effect on the dependency graph, as some core modules don't depend on library anymore. A question about providing equality for the GloRef module remains, as there are two different notions of equality for constants. In that sense, `KerPair` seems suspicious and at some point it should be looked at.
2018-04-23[api] Relocate `intf` modules according to dependency-order.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
In a component-based source code organization of Coq `intf` doesn't fit very well, as it sits in bit of "limbo" between different components, and indeed, encourages developers to place types in sometimes random places wrt the hierarchy. For example, lower parts of the system reference `Vernacexpr`, which morally lives in a pretty higher part of the system. We move all the files in `intf` to the lowest place their dependencies can accommodate: - `Misctypes`: is used by Declaremod, thus it has to go in `library` or below. Ideally, this file would disappear. - `Evar_kinds`: it is used by files in `engine`, so that seems its proper placement. - `Decl_kinds`: used in `library`, seems like the right place. [could also be merged. - `Glob_term`: belongs to pretyping, where it is placed. - `Locus`: ditto. - `Pattern`: ditto. - `Genredexpr`: depended by a few modules in `pretyping`, seems like the righ place. - `Constrexpr`: used in `pretyping`, the use is a bit unfortunate and could be fixed, as this module should be declared in `interp` which is the one eliminating it. - `Vernacexpr`: same problem than `Constrexpr`; this one can be fixed as it contains stuff it shouldn't. The right place should be `parsing`. - `Extend`: Is placed in `pretyping` due to being used by `Vernacexpr`. - `Notation_term`: First place used is `interp`, seems like the right place. Additionally, for some files it could be worth to merge files of the form `Foo` with `Foo_ops` in the medium term, as to create proper ADT modules as done in the kernel with `Name`, etc...

2011-11-07Allow "|_=>_" in "match" in patterns, no more forced enumeration of constructorsletouzey
For instance, consider this inductive type: Inductive Ind := A | B | C | D. For detecting "match" on this type, one was forced earlier to write code in Ltac using "match goal" and/or "context [...]" and long patterns such as: match _ with A => _ | B => _ | C => _ | D => _ end After this patch, this pattern can be shortened in many alternative ways: match _ with A => _ | _ => _ end match _ with B => _ | _ => _ end match _ in Ind with _ => _ end Indeed, if we want to detect a "match" of a given type, we can either leave at least one branch where a constructor is explicit, or use a "in" annotation. Now, we can also detect any "match" regardless of its type: match _ with _ => _ end Note : this will even detect "match" over empty inductive types. Compatibility should be preserved, since "match _ with end" will continue to correspond only to empty inductive types. Internally, the constr_pattern PCase has changed quite a lot, a few elements are now grouped into a case_info_pattern record, while branches are now lists of given sub-patterns. NB: writing "match" with missing last branches in a constr pattern was actually tolerated by Pattern.pattern_of_glob_constr earlier, since the number of constructor per inductive is unknown there. And this was triggering an uncaught exception in a array_fold_left_2 in Matching later. Oups. At least this patch fixes this issue... Btw: the code in Pattern.pattern_of_glob_constr was quadratic in the number of branch in a match pattern. I doubt this was really a problem, but having now linear code instead cannot harm ;-) git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@14644 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7

2010-12-23Change of nomenclature: rawconstr -> glob_constrglondu
There was a discrepancy of the notions "raw" and "globalized" between constrs and tactics, and some confusion of the notions in e.g. genarg.mli (see all globwit_* there). This commit is a first step towards unification of terminology between constrs and tactics. Changes in module names will be done separately. In extraargs.ml4, the "ARGUMENT EXTEND raw" and related stuff, even affected by this change, has not been touched and highlights another confusion in "ARGUMENT EXTEND" in general that will be addressed later. The funind plugin doesn't respect the same naming conventions as the rest, so leave some "raw" there for now... they will be addressed later. This big commit has been generated with the following command (wrapped here, but should be on a *single* line): perl -pi -e 's/(\W(?:|pp|pr_l)|_)raw((?:constrs?|type|vars|_binder| _context|decl|_decompose|_compose|_make)(?:\W|_))/\1glob_\2/g;s/glo b__/glob_/g;s/prraw/prglob/g;s/(\W)R((?:Ref|Var|Evar|PatVar|App|Lam bda|Prod|LetIn|Cases|LetTuple|If|Rec|Sort|Hole|Cast|Dynamic)\W)/\1G \2/g' `git ls-files|grep -v dev/doc/changes.txt` git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@13743 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7

2010-06-06Added support for Ltac-matching terms with variables bound in the patternherbelin
- Instances found by matching.ml now collect the set of bound variables they possibly depend on in the pattern (see type Pattern.extended_patvar_map); the variables names are canonically ordered so that non-linear matching takes actual names into account. - Removed typing of matching constr instances in advance (in tacinterp.ml) and did it only at use time (in pretyping.ml). Drawback is that we may have to re-type several times the same term but it is necessary for considering terms with locally bound variables of which we do not keep the type (and if even we had kept the type, we would have to adjust the indices to the actual context the term occurs). - A bit of documentation of pattern.mli, matching.mli and pretyping.mli. - Incidentally add env while printing idtac messages. It seems more correct and I hope I did not break some intended existing behavior. git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@13080 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7

2009-12-24Opened the possibility to type Ltac patterns but it is not fully functional yetherbelin
- to type patterns w/o losing the information of what subterm is a hole would need to remember where holes were in "understand", but "understand" needs sometimes to instantiate evars to ensure the type of an evar is not its original type but the type of its instance (what can e.g. lower a universe level); we would need here to update evars type at the same time we define them but this would need in turn to check the convertibility of the actual and expected type since otherwise type-checking constraints may disappear; - typing pattern is apparently expensive in time; is it worth to do it for the benefit of pattern-matching compilation and coercion insertion? git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@12607 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7

2009-10-21This big commit addresses two problems:soubiran
1- Management of the name-space in a modular development / sharing of non-logical objects. 2- Performance of atomic module operations (adding a module to the environment, subtyping ...). 1- There are 3 module constructions which derive equalities on fields from a module to another: Let P be a module path and foo a field of P Module M := P. Module M. Include P. ... End M. Declare Module K : S with Module M := P. In this 3 cases we don't want to be bothered by the duplication of names. Of course, M.foo delta reduce to P.foo but many non-logical features of coq do not work modulo conversion (they use eq_constr or constr_pat object). To engender a transparent name-space (ie using P.foo or M.foo is the same thing) we quotient the name-space by the equivalence relation on names induced by the 3 constructions above. To implement this, the types constant and mutual_inductive are now couples of kernel_names. The first projection correspond to the name used by the user and the second projection to the canonical name, for example the internal name of M.foo is (M.foo,P.foo). So: ************************************************************************************* * Use the eq_(con,mind,constructor,gr,egr...) function and not = on names values * ************************************************************************************* Map and Set indexed on names are ordered on user name for the kernel side and on canonical name outside. Thus we have sharing of notation, hints... for free (also for a posteriori declaration of them, ex: a notation on M.foo will be avaible on P.foo). If you want to use this, use the appropriate compare function defined in name.ml or libnames.ml. 2- No more time explosion (i hoppe) when using modules i have re-implemented atomic module operations so that they are all linear in the size of the module. We also have no more unique identifier (internal module names) for modules, it is now based on a section_path like mechanism => we have less substitutions to perform at require, module closing and subtyping but we pre-compute more information hence if we instanciate several functors then we have bigger vo. Last thing, the checker will not work well on vo(s) that contains one of the 3 constructions above, i will work on it soon... git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@12406 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7

2008-03-28- Second pass on implementation of let pattern. Parse "let ' par [as x]?msozeau
[in I] := t [return pred] in b", just as SSReflect does with let:. Change implementation: no longer a separate AST node, just add a case_style annotation on Cases to indicate it (if ML was dependently typed we could ensure that LetPatternStyle Cases have only one term to be matched and one branch, alas...). This factors out most code and we lose no functionality (win ! win !). Add LetPat.v test suite. - Slight improvement of inference of return clauses for dependent pattern matching. 2007-12-05Factorisation des opérations sur le type option de Util dans un module aspiwack
lib/option.ml(i) .
