2020-05-15[misc] Better preserve backtraces in several modulesEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Re-raising inside exception handlers must be done with care in order to preserve backtraces; even if newer OCaml versions do a better job in automatically spilling `%reraise` in places that matter, there is no guarantee for that to happen. I've done a best-effort pass of places that were re-raising incorrectly, hopefully I got the logic right. There is the special case of `Nametab.error_global_not_found` which is raised many times in response to a `Not_found` error; IMHO this error should be converted to something more specific, however the scope of that change would be huge as to do easily...
2020-05-14Generalize the interpretation of syntactic notation as reference to their head.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
This seems to be a pattern used quite a bit in the wild, it does not hurt to be a bit more lenient to tolerate this kind of use. Interestingly the API was already offering a similar generalization in some unrelated places. We also backtrack on the change in Floats.FloatLemmas since it is an instance of this phenomenon.
2020-03-18Update headers in the whole code base.Théo Zimmermann
Add headers to a few files which were missing them.
2019-07-08[api] Deprecate GlobRef constructors.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Not pretty, but it had to be done some day, as `Globnames` seems to be on the way out. I have taken the opportunity to reduce the number of `open` in the codebase. The qualified style would indeed allow us to use a bit nicer names `GlobRef.Inductive` instead of `IndRef`, etc... once we have the tooling to do large-scale refactoring that could be tried.
2019-06-17Update ml-style headers to new year.Théo Zimmermann
2018-06-18Remove reference name type.Maxime Dénès
reference was defined as Ident or Qualid, but the qualid type already permits empty paths. So we had effectively two representations for unqualified names, that were not seen as equal by eq_reference. We remove the reference type and replace its uses by qualid.
2018-06-12[api] Remove Misctypes.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move the last 3 types to more adequate places.
2018-03-09[located] Push inner locations in `reference` to a CAst.t node.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
The `reference` type contains some ad-hoc locations in its constructors, but there is no reason not to handle them with the standard attribute container provided by `CAst.t`. An orthogonal topic to this commit is whether the `reference` type should contain a location or not at all. It seems that many places would become a bit clearer by splitting `reference` into non-located `reference` and `lreference`, however some other places become messier so we maintain the current status-quo for now.
2018-03-09[located] More work towards using CAst.tEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We continue with the work of #402 and #6745 and update most of the remaining parts of the AST: - module declarations - intro patterns - top-level sentences Now, parsed documents should be full annotated by `CAst` nodes.

2017-04-25[location] Make location optional in Loc.locatedEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This completes the Loc.ghost removal, the idea is to gear the API towards optional, but uniform, location handling. We don't print <unknown> anymore in the case there is no location. This is what the test suite expects. The old printing logic for located items was a bit inconsistent as it sometimes printed <unknown> and other times it printed nothing as the caller checked for `is_ghost` upstream.
2017-04-25[location] Remove Loc.ghost.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Now it is a private field, locations are optional.
2017-04-24[location] Use located in misctypes.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2017-03-24Replacing "cast surgery" in LetIn by a proper field (see PR #404).Hugo Herbelin
This is a patch fulfilling the relevant remark of Maxime that an explicit information at the ML type level would be better than "cast surgery" to carry the optional type of a let-in. There are a very few semantic changes. - a "(x:t:=c)" in a block of binders is now written in the more standard way "(x:=c:t)" - in notations, the type of a let-in is not displayed if not explicitly asked so. See discussion at PR #417 for more information.

2016-08-19Unify location handling of error functions.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
In some cases prior to this patch, there were two cases for the same error function, one taking a location, the other not. We unify them by using an option parameter, in the line with recent changes in warnings and feedback. This implies a bit of clean up in some places, but more importantly, is the preparation for subsequent patches making `Loc.location` opaque, change that could be use to improve modularity and allow a more functional implementation strategy --- for example --- of the beautifier.

2014-11-16Enforcing a stronger difference between the two syntaxes "simplHugo Herbelin
reference" and "simpl pattern" in the code (maybe we should have merged them instead, but I finally decided to enforce their difference, even if some compatibility is to be preversed - the idea is that at some time "simpl reference" would only call a weak-head simpl (or eventually cbn), leading e.g. to reduce 2+n into S(1+n) rather than S(S(n)) which could be useful for better using induction hypotheses. In the process we also implement the following: - 'simpl "+"' is accepted to reduce all applicative subterms whose head symbol is written "+" (in the toplevel scope); idem for vm_compute and native_compute - 'simpl reference' works even if reference has maximally inserted implicit arguments (this solves the "simpl fst" incompatibility) - compatibility of ltac expressions referring to vm_compute and native_compute with functor application should now work (i.e. vm_compute and native_compute are now taken into account in tacsubst.ml) - for compatibility, "simpl eq" (assuming no maximal implicit args in eq) or "simpl @eq" to mean "simpl (eq _ _)" are still allowed. By the way, is "mul" on nat defined optimally? "3*n" simplifies to "n+(n+(n+0))". Are there some advantages of this compared to have it simplified to "n+n+n" (i.e. to "(n+n)+n").
2014-07-14smartlocate: look for the head symbol for realEnrico Tassi
This bug was hacked around in ssreflect, but with the new idea that parsing and interpretation are done in distinct phases the work around could not be implemented anymore.

2009-11-11Improving abbreviations/notations + backtrack of semantic change in r12439herbelin
- Deactivation of short names registration and printing for abbreviations to identical names, what avoids printing uselessly qualified names binding where the short name is in fact equivalent. - New treatment of abbreviations to names: don't insert any maximally inserted implicit arguments at all at the time of the abbreviation and use the regular internalization strategy to have them inserted at use time. - The previous modifications altogether make redirections of qualified names easier and avoid the semantic change of r12349 and hence allows to keep "Notation b := @a" as it was before, i.e. as a notation for the deactivation of the implicit arguments of a. - Took benefit of these changes and updated nil/cons/list/app redefinition in "List.v". - Fixed parsing/printing notation bugs (loop on partially applied abreviations for constructors in constrintern.ml + bad reverting of notations with holes that captured non anonymous variables in match_cases_pattern). - Add support for parsing/printing abbreviations to @-like constructors and for reverting printing for abbreviations to constructors applied to parameters only (function extern_symbol_pattern). - Minor error messages fixes and minor APIs cleaning. git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@12494 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7
