2018-02-23New IR in VM: Clambda.Maxime Dénès
This intermediate representation serves two purposes: 1- It is a preliminary step for primitive machine integers, as iterators will be compiled to Clambda. 2- It makes the VM compilation passes closer to the ones of native_compute. Once we unifiy the representation of values, we should be able to factorize the lambda-code generation between the two compilers, as well as the reification code. This code was written by Benjamin Grégoire and myself.
2018-02-22[ast] Improve precision of Ast location recognition in serialization.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We follow the suggestions in #402 and turn uses of `Loc.located` in `vernac` into `CAst.t`. The impact should be low as this change mostly affects top-level vernaculars. With this change, we are even closer to automatically map a text document to its AST in a programmatic way.

2018-02-20Change default for notations with variables bound to both terms and binders.Hugo Herbelin
For compatibility, the default is to parse as ident and not as pattern.
2018-02-20Notations: Adding modifiers to tell which kind of binder a constr can parse.Hugo Herbelin
Concretely, we provide "constr as ident", "constr as strict pattern" and "constr as pattern". This tells to parse a binder as a constr, restricting to only ident or to only a strict pattern, or to a pattern which can also be an ident. The "strict pattern" modifier allows to restrict the use of patterns in printing rules. This allows e.g. to select the appropriate rule for printing between {x|P} and {'pat|P}.

We generalize the possibility to refer to a notation not only by its "_ U _" form but also using its "a 'U' b". (Wish from EJGA)

2018-02-20Adding support for parsing subterms of a notation as "pattern".Hugo Herbelin
This allows in particular to define notations with 'pat style binders. E.g.: A non-trivial change in this commit is storing binders and patterns separately from terms. This is not strictly necessary but has some advantages. However, it is relatively common to have binders also used as terms, or binders parsed as terms. Thus, it is already relatively common to embed binders into terms (see e.g. notation for ETA in output test Notations3.v) or to coerce terms to idents (see e.g. the notation for {x|P} where x is parsed as a constr). So, it is as simple to always store idents (and eventually patterns) as terms.

productions. This type describes the grammar non-terminal. It typically contains ETConstrList (now renamed ETProdConstrList) but not ETBinder. It is the type for metasyntax.ml and egramcoq.ml to communicate together. The type constr_prod_entry_key with ETConstr, ETBinder, is now used only in metasyntax.ml. This allows to get rid of some "assert false" in uselessly matching over ETConstrList in metasyntax.ml and of some "assert false" in uselessly matching over ETBinder in egramcoq.ml. Also exporting less of extend.mli in API.

This ensures by construction that we never infer constraints outside the variance model.
2018-02-10Inference of inductive subtyping does not need an evar map.Gaëtan Gilbert
2018-02-10Simplification: cumulativity information is variance information.Gaëtan Gilbert
Since cumulativity of an inductive type is the universe constraints which make a term convertible with its universe-renamed copy, the only constraints we can get are between a universe and its copy. As such we do not need to be able to represent arbitrary constraints between universes and copied universes in a double-sized ucontext, instead we can just keep around an array describing whether a bound universe is covariant, invariant or irrelevant (CIC has no contravariant conversion rule). Printing is fairly obtuse and should be improved: when we print the CumulativityInfo we add marks to the universes of the instance: = for invariant, + for covariant and * for irrelevant. ie Record Foo@{i j k} := { foo : Type@{i} -> Type@{j} }. Print Foo. gives Cumulative Record Foo : Type@{max(i+1, j+1)} := Build_Foo { foo : Type@{i} -> Type@{j} } (* =i +j *k |= *)

2018-02-09[vernac] [minor] Move print effects to top-level caller.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We remove many individual calls to `msg_notice` in the print vernacular dispatcher in favor of a single, top-level calls. This is a minor refactoring but will help in handling `Print Foo` more uniformly.
2018-02-09[error] Replace msg_error by a proper exception.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
The current error mechanism in the core part of Coq is 100% exception based; there was some confusion in the past as to whether raising and exception could be replace with `Feedback.msg_error`. As of today, this is not the case [due to some issues in the layer that generates error feedbacks in the STM] so all cases of `msg_error` must raise an exception of print at a different level [for now].

2018-01-29[toplevel] Refactor load path handling.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We refactor top-level load path handling. This is in preparation to make load paths become local to a particular document. To this effect, we introduce a new data type `coq_path` that includes the full specification of a load path: ``` type add_ml = AddNoML | AddTopML | AddRecML type vo_path_spec = { unix_path : string; (* Filesystem path contaning vo/ml files *) coq_path : Names.DirPath.t; (* Coq prefix for the path *) implicit : bool; (* [implicit = true] avoids having to qualify with [coq_path] *) has_ml : add_ml; (* If [has_ml] is true, the directory will also be search for plugins *) } type coq_path_spec = | VoPath of vo_path_spec | MlPath of string type coq_path = { path_spec: coq_path_spec; recursive: bool; } ``` Then, initialization of load paths is split into building a list of load paths and actually making them effective. A future commit will make thus the list of load paths a parameter for document creation. This API is necessarily internal [for now] thus I don't think a changes entry is needed.
