2018-06-12[api] Remove Misctypes.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move the last 3 types to more adequate places.
2018-06-12[api] Misctypes removal: several moves:Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
- move_location to proofs/logic. - intro_pattern_naming to Namegen.
2018-05-31[notations] Split interpretation and parsing of notationsEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Previously to this patch, `Notation_term` contained information about both parsing and notation interpretation. We split notation grammar to a file `parsing/notation_gram` as to make `interp/` not to depend on some parsing structures such as entries.
2018-05-30[api] Remove deprecated object from `Term`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We remove most of what was deprecated in `Term`. Now, `intf` and `kernel` are almost deprecation-free, tho I am not very convinced about the whole `Term -> Constr` renaming but I'm afraid there is no way back. Inconsistencies with the constructor policy (see #6440) remain along the code-base and I'm afraid I don't see a plan to reconcile them. The `Sorts` deprecation is hard to finalize, opening `Sorts` is not a good idea as someone added a `List` module inside it.
2018-05-08[api] Move universe syntax to `Glob_term`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move syntax for universes from `Misctypes` to `Glob_term`. There is basically no reason that this type is there instead of the proper file, as witnessed by the diff. Unfortunately the change is not compatible due to moving a type to a higher level in the hierarchy, but we expect few problems. This change plus the related PR (#6515) moving universe declaration to their proper place make `Misctypes` into basically an empty file save for introduction patterns.
2018-03-09[located] Push inner locations in `reference` to a CAst.t node.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
The `reference` type contains some ad-hoc locations in its constructors, but there is no reason not to handle them with the standard attribute container provided by `CAst.t`. An orthogonal topic to this commit is whether the `reference` type should contain a location or not at all. It seems that many places would become a bit clearer by splitting `reference` into non-located `reference` and `lreference`, however some other places become messier so we maintain the current status-quo for now.

2018-02-28[toplevel] Move beautify to its own pass.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We first load the file, then we print it as a post-processing step. This is both more flexible and clearer. We also refactor the comments handling to minimize the logic that is living in the Lexer. Indeed, the main API is now living in the printer, and complex interactions with the state are not possible anymore, including the removal of messing with low-level summary and state setting!
2018-02-28[econstr] Continue consolidation of EConstr API under `interp`.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This commit was motivated by true spurious conversions arising in my `to_constr` debug branch. The changes here need careful review as the tradeoffs are subtle and still a lot of clean up remains to be done in `vernac/*`. We have opted for penalize [minimally] the few users coming from true `Constr`-land, but I am sure we can tweak code in a much better way. In particular, it is not clear if internalization should take an `evar_map` even in the cases where it is not triggered, see the changes under `plugins` for a good example. Also, the new return type of `Pretyping.understand` should undergo careful review. We don't touch `Impargs` as it is not clear how to proceed, however, the current type of `compute_implicits_gen` looks very suspicious as it is called often with free evars. Some TODOs are: - impargs was calling whd_all, the Econstr equivalent can be either + Reductionops.whd_all [which does refolding and no sharing] + Reductionops.clos_whd_flags with all as a flag.

2018-02-22[ast] Improve precision of Ast location recognition in serialization.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We follow the suggestions in #402 and turn uses of `Loc.located` in `vernac` into `CAst.t`. The impact should be low as this change mostly affects top-level vernaculars. With this change, we are even closer to automatically map a text document to its AST in a programmatic way.
2018-02-20Adding support for parsing subterms of a notation as "pattern".Hugo Herbelin
This allows in particular to define notations with 'pat style binders. E.g.: A non-trivial change in this commit is storing binders and patterns separately from terms. This is not strictly necessary but has some advantages. However, it is relatively common to have binders also used as terms, or binders parsed as terms. Thus, it is already relatively common to embed binders into terms (see e.g. notation for ETA in output test Notations3.v) or to coerce terms to idents (see e.g. the notation for {x|P} where x is parsed as a constr). So, it is as simple to always store idents (and eventually patterns) as terms.
2018-02-20Moving the argument of CProdN/CLambdaN from binder_expr to local_binder_expr.Hugo Herbelin
The motivations are: - To reflect the concrete syntax more closely. - To factorize the different places where "contexts" are internalized: before this patch, there is a different treatment of `Definition f '(x,y) := x+y` and `Definition f := fun '(x,y) => x+y`, and a hack to interpret `Definition f `pat := c : t`. With the patch, the fix to avoid seeing a variable named `pat` works for both `fun 'x => ...` and `Definition f 'x := ...`. The drawbacks are: - Counterpart to reflecting the concrete syntax more closerly, there are more redundancies in the syntax. For instance, the case `CLetIn (na,b,t,c)` can appears also in the form `CProdN (CLocalDef (na,b,t)::rest,d)` and `CLambdaN (CLocalDef (na,b,t)::rest,d)`. - Changes in the API, hence adaptation of plugins referring to `constr_expr` needed.
2018-01-30Use r.(p) syntax to print primitive projections.Maxime Dénès
There is no way today to distinguish primitive projections from compatibility constants, at least in the case of a record without parameters. We remedy to this by always using the r.(p) syntax when printing primitive projections, even with Set Printing All. The input syntax r.(p) is still elaborated to GApp, so that we can preserve the compatibility layer. Hopefully we can make up a plan to get rid of that layer, but it will require fixing a few problems.
2017-12-12Removing cumbersome location in multiple patterns.Hugo Herbelin
This is to have a better symmetry between CCases and GCases.
2017-12-12Improving spacing in printing disjunctive patterns.Hugo Herbelin
Adding a space before the bar separating disjunctive patterns. Removing an extra space after the bar for inner disjunctive patterns.
2017-12-01Proper nametab handling of global universe namesMatthieu Sozeau
They are now bound at the library + module level and can be qualified and shadowed according to the usual rules of qualified names. Parsing and printing of universes "u+n" done as well. In sections, global universes are discharged as well, checking that they can be defined globally when they are introduced
2017-11-19[parser] Remove unnecessary statically initialized hook.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Addded by c6d9d4fb142ef42634be25b60c0995b541e86629 ["Adding ability to put any pattern in binders, prefixed by a quote."] its current placement as well as the hook don't make a lot of sense. In particular, they prevent parts of Coq working without linking the parser. To this purpose, we need to consolidate the `Constrexpr` utilities. While we are at it we do so and remove the `Topconstr` module which is fully redundant with `Constrexpr_ops`.

2017-06-14Constrexpr.Numeral stays uninterpreted (string+sign instead of BigInt.t)Pierre Letouzey
This string contains the base-10 representation of the number (big endian) Note that some inner parsing stuff still uses bigints, see egramcoq.ml
2017-06-02Drop '.' from CErrors.anomaly, insert it in argsJason Gross
As per https://github.com/coq/coq/pull/716#issuecomment-305140839 Partially using ```bash git grep --name-only 'anomaly\s*\(~label:"[^"]*"\s*\)\?\(Pp.\)\?(\(\(Pp.\)\?str\)\?\s*".*[^\.!]")' | xargs sed s'/\(anomaly\s*\(~label:"[^"]*"\s*\)\?\(Pp.\)\?(\(\(Pp.\)\?str\)\?\s*".*\s*[^\.! ]\)\s*")/\1.")/g' -i ``` and ```bash git grep --name-only ' !"' | xargs sed s'/ !"/!"/g' -i ``` The rest were manually edited by looking at the results of ```bash git grep anomaly | grep '\.ml' | grep -v 'anomaly\s*\(~label:"[^"]*"\s*\)\?\(Pp\.\)\?(\(\(Pp.\)\?str\)\?\s*".*\(\.\|!\)")' | grep 'anomaly\($\|[^_]\)' | less ```
2017-06-02Don't double up on periods in anomaliesJason Gross
We don't want "Anomaly: Returned a functional value in a type not recognized as a product type.. Please report at http://coq.inria.fr/bugs/." but instead "Anomaly: Returned a functional value in a type not recognized as a product type. Please report at http://coq.inria.fr/bugs/."
2017-05-31Creating a module Nameops.Name extending module Names.Name.Hugo Herbelin
This module collects the functions of Nameops which are about Name.t and somehow standardize or improve their name, resulting in particular from discussions in working group. Note the use of a dedicated exception rather than a failwith for Nameops.Name.out. Drawback of the approach: one needs to open Nameops, or to use long prefix Nameops.Name.

2017-04-25[location] [ast] Switch Constrexpr AST to an extensible node type.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Following @gasche idea, and the original intention of #402, we switch the main parsing AST of Coq from `'a Loc.located` to `'a CAst.ast` which is private and record-based. This provides significantly clearer code for the AST, and is robust wrt attributes.
2017-04-25[location] Make location optional in Loc.locatedEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This completes the Loc.ghost removal, the idea is to gear the API towards optional, but uniform, location handling. We don't print <unknown> anymore in the case there is no location. This is what the test suite expects. The old printing logic for located items was a bit inconsistent as it sometimes printed <unknown> and other times it printed nothing as the caller checked for `is_ghost` upstream.
2017-04-25[location] Remove Loc.ghost.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Now it is a private field, locations are optional.
2017-04-24[location] More located use.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2017-04-24[location] Use Loc.located for constr_expr.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is the second patch, which is a bit more invasive. We reasoning is similar to the previous patch. Code is not as clean as it could as we would need to convert `glob_constr` to located too, then a few parts could just map the location.
2017-04-24[constrexpr] Make patterns use Loc.located for location informationEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is first of a series of patches, converting `constrexpr` pattern data type from ad-hoc location handling to `Loc.located`. Along Coq, we can find two different coding styles for handling objects with location information: one style uses `'a Loc.located`, whereas other data structures directly embed `Loc.t` in their constructors. Handling all located objects uniformly would be very convenient, and would allow optimizing certain cases, in particular making located smarter when there is no location information, as it is the case for all terms coming from the kernel. `git grep 'Loc.t \*'` gives an overview of the remaining work to do. We've also added an experimental API for `located` to the `Loc` module, `Loc.tag` should be used to add locations objects, making it explicit in the code when a "located" object is created.

2017-03-24Applying same convention as in Definition for printing type in a let in.Hugo Herbelin
Also adding spaces around ":=" and ":" when printed as "(x : t := c)". Example: Check fun y => let x : True := I in fun z => z+y=0. (* λ (y : nat) (x : True := I) (z : nat), z + y = 0 : nat → nat → Prop *)
2017-03-24Replacing "cast surgery" in LetIn by a proper field (see PR #404).Hugo Herbelin
This is a patch fulfilling the relevant remark of Maxime that an explicit information at the ML type level would be better than "cast surgery" to carry the optional type of a let-in. There are a very few semantic changes. - a "(x:t:=c)" in a block of binders is now written in the more standard way "(x:=c:t)" - in notations, the type of a let-in is not displayed if not explicitly asked so. See discussion at PR #417 for more information.

2017-03-21[pp] Move terminal-specific tagging to the toplevel.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Previously, tags were associated to terminal styles, which doesn't make sense on terminal-free pretty printing scenarios. This commit moves tag interpretation to the toplevel terminal handling module `Topfmt`.
2017-03-21[pp] Replace `Pp.Tag` by `Ppstyle.tag` = `string list`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is what has always been used, so it doesn't represent a functional change. This is just a preliminary patch, but many more possibilities could be done wrt tags.
2017-03-21[pp] Remove unused printing tagging infrastructure.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Applications of it were not clear/unproven, it made printers more complex (as they needed to be functors) and as it lacked examples it confused some people. The printers now tag unconditionally, it is up to the backends to interpreted the tags. Tagging (and indeed the notion of rich document) should be reworked in a follow-up patch, so they are in sync, but this is a first step. Tested, test-suite passes. Notes: - We remove the `Richprinter` module. It was only used in the `annotate` IDE protocol call, its output was identical to the normal printer (or even inconsistent if taggers were not kept manually in sync). - Note that Richpp didn't need a single change. In particular, its main API entry point `Richpp.rich_pp` is not used by anyone.
