2020-10-09[stm] move par: implementation to vernac/comTactic and stm/partacEnrico Tassi
The current implementation of par: is still in the STM, but is optional. If the STM does not take over it, it defaults to the implementation of in comTactic which is based on all: (i.e. sequential). This commit also moved the interpretation of a tactic from g_ltac to vernac/comTactic which is more appropriate. Co-authored-by: Gaëtan Gilbert <gaetan.gilbert@skyskimmer.net>

2020-08-19Yet other tactic error location fixes (see PR#12223 and PR#12774).Hugo Herbelin
When calling an Ltac function, add specific locations when interpreting the function, when interpreting the arguments and when executating the call (in a TacArg).

This is important for TacArg arguments, which typically corresponds to calling an Ltac function.

2020-08-18Remaining bugs in PR#12223 which fixed location of tactic errors (issue #12152).Hugo Herbelin
The update of a loc needs sometimes to override (when calling an Ltac function), and otherwise to keep the existing loc (assumed to be fined). We refine this (see e.g. the ErrorLocation_tac_in_term tests). Moreover, when overriding, this was going to a tclOR backtracking point which was setting the loc to a completely disjoint part of the code having caused the error (see #12773). We replace the tclOR by a tclORELSE.

Re-raising inside exception handlers must be done with care in order to preserve backtraces; even if newer OCaml versions do a better job in automatically spilling `%reraise` in places that matter, there is no guarantee for that to happen. I've done a best-effort pass of places that were re-raising incorrectly, hopefully I got the logic right. There is the special case of `Nametab.error_global_not_found` which is raised many times in response to a `Not_found` error; IMHO this error should be converted to something more specific, however the scope of that change would be huge as to do easily...
2020-05-14[exn] [tactics] improve backtraces on monadic errorsEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Current backtraces for tactics leave a bit to desire, for example given the program: ```coq Lemma u n : n + 0 = n. rewrite plus_O_n. ``` the backtrace stops at: ``` Found no subterm matching "0 + ?M160" in the current goal. Called from file "proofs/proof.ml", line 381, characters 4-42 Called from file "tactics/pfedit.ml", line 102, characters 31-58 Called from file "plugins/ltac/g_ltac.mlg", line 378, characters 8-84 ``` Backtrace information `?info` is as of today optional in some tactics, such as `tclZERO`, it doesn't cost a lot however to reify backtrace information indeed in `tclZERO` and provide backtraces for all tactic errors. The cost should be small if we are not in debug mode. The backtrace for the failed rewrite is now: ``` Found no subterm matching "0 + ?M160" in the current goal. Raised at file "pretyping/unification.ml", line 1827, characters 14-73 Called from file "pretyping/unification.ml", line 1929, characters 17-53 Called from file "pretyping/unification.ml", line 1948, characters 22-72 Called from file "pretyping/unification.ml", line 2020, characters 14-56 Re-raised at file "pretyping/unification.ml", line 2021, characters 66-73 Called from file "proofs/clenv.ml", line 254, characters 12-58 Called from file "proofs/clenvtac.ml", line 95, characters 16-53 Called from file "engine/proofview.ml", line 1110, characters 40-46 Called from file "engine/proofview.ml", line 1115, characters 10-34 Re-raised at file "clib/exninfo.ml", line 82, characters 4-38 Called from file "proofs/proof.ml", line 381, characters 4-42 Called from file "tactics/pfedit.ml", line 102, characters 31-58 Called from file "plugins/ltac/g_ltac.mlg", line 378, characters 8-84 ``` which IMO is much better.

2020-05-10Locating error again in TacAtom and TacAlias (fixes #12152, fixes #12255).Hugo Herbelin
Since we don't always have the call trace anymore, we explicitly insert a catch of failures in TacAlias. The trace is then treated in this catch rather than propagated to the underlying calls (a VFun?). I hope this is doing the same. The suggestion to use a tclOR is from P.-M. Pédrot. Note: this is not fully ideal, the messages which were expecting a trace should be rethought to take into account either that the calls are not printed anymore, or to print them again.
2020-05-09Add a `with_strategy` tacticJason Gross
Useful for guarding calls to `unfold` or `cbv` to ensure that, e.g., `Opaque foo` doesn't break some automation which tries to unfold `foo`. We have some timeouts in the strategy success file. We should not run into issues, because we are not really testing how long these take. We could just as well use `Timeout 60` or longer, we just want to make sure the file dies more quickly rather than taking over 10^100 steps. Note that this tactic does not play well with `abstract`; I have a potentially controversial change that fixes this issue. 2020-03-03[exninfo] Deprecate aliases for exception re-raising.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We make the primitives for backtrace-enriched exceptions canonical in the `Exninfo` module, deprecating all other aliases. At some point dependencies between `CErrors` and `Exninfo` were a bit complex, after recent clean-ups the roles seem much clearer so we can have a single place for `iraise` and `capture`.

2019-07-08[api] Deprecate GlobRef constructors.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Not pretty, but it had to be done some day, as `Globnames` seems to be on the way out. I have taken the opportunity to reduce the number of `open` in the codebase. The qualified style would indeed allow us to use a bit nicer names `GlobRef.Inductive` instead of `IndRef`, etc... once we have the tooling to do large-scale refactoring that could be tried.

This is to prevent confusion with the terminology used in the grammar of tactic in the reference manual: "intropattern" in Tactic Notation and TACTIC EXTEND is actually bound to simple_intropattern and not to what is called intropattern in the reference manual After some deprecation phase, "intropattern" could be added back to mean the "intropattern" of the reference manual. Note that "simple_intropattern" is actually already available in "Tactic Notation" with the correct meaning as an entry. Only "intropattern" is misguiding.

2019-02-12[tactics] Remove dependency of abstract on global proof state.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
In order to do so we place the polymorphic status and name in the read-only part of the monad. Note the added comments, as well as the fact that almost no part of tactics depends on `proofs` nor `interp`, thus they should be placed just after pretyping. Gaëtan Gilbert noted that ideally, abstract should not depend on the polymorphic status, should we be able to defer closing of the constant, however this will require significant effort. Also, we may deprecate nameless abstract, thus rending both of the changes this PR need unnecessary.

This is only used for debugging, if a user wants more feedback she can turn on the option. Conversely, it has a cost for any tactic script, so it is wiser to disable it by default.

2019-02-05Make Program a regular attributeMaxime Dénès
We remove all calls to `Flags.is_program_mode` except one (to compute the default value of the attribute). Everything else is passed explicitely, and we remove the special logic in the interpretation loop to set/unset the flag. This is especially important since the value of the flag has an impact on proof modes, so on the separation of parsing and execution phases.
