2018-07-03Pptactic: remove unused argumentsGaëtan Gilbert
2018-06-18Remove reference name type.Maxime Dénès
reference was defined as Ident or Qualid, but the qualid type already permits empty paths. So we had effectively two representations for unqualified names, that were not seen as equal by eq_reference. We remove the reference type and replace its uses by qualid.
2018-06-12[api] Remove Misctypes.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move the last 3 types to more adequate places.
2018-06-12[api] Misctypes removal: several moves:Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
- move_location to proofs/logic. - intro_pattern_naming to Namegen.
2018-06-12[api] Misctypes removal: multi to tactics/rewriteEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2018-05-31[notations] Split interpretation and parsing of notationsEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Previously to this patch, `Notation_term` contained information about both parsing and notation interpretation. We split notation grammar to a file `parsing/notation_gram` as to make `interp/` not to depend on some parsing structures such as entries.
2018-05-25Remove some occurrences of Evd.emptyMaxime Dénès
We address the easy ones, but they should probably be all removed.
2018-04-29Strict focusing using Default Goal Selector.Gaëtan Gilbert
We add a [SelectAlreadyFocused] constructor to [goal_selector] (read "!") which causes a failure when there's not exactly 1 goal and otherwise is a noop. Then [Set Default Goal Selector "!".] puts us in "strict focusing" mode where we can only run tactics if we have only one goal or use a selector. Closes #6689.
2018-03-10[ssreflect] Fix module scoping problems due to packing and mli files.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Unfortunately, mli-only files cannot be included in packs, so we have the weird situation that the scope for `Tacexpr` is wrong. So we cannot address the module as `Ltac_plugin.Tacexpr` but it lives in the global namespace instead. This creates problem when using other modular build/packing strategies [such as #6857] This could be indeed considered a bug in the OCaml compiler. In order to remedy this situation we face two choices: - leave the module out of the pack (!) - create an implementation for the module I chose the second solution as it seems to me like the most sensible choice. cc: #6512.
2018-03-09[located] Push inner locations in `reference` to a CAst.t node.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
The `reference` type contains some ad-hoc locations in its constructors, but there is no reason not to handle them with the standard attribute container provided by `CAst.t`. An orthogonal topic to this commit is whether the `reference` type should contain a location or not at all. It seems that many places would become a bit clearer by splitting `reference` into non-located `reference` and `lreference`, however some other places become messier so we maintain the current status-quo for now.
2018-03-09[located] More work towards using CAst.tEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We continue with the work of #402 and #6745 and update most of the remaining parts of the AST: - module declarations - intro patterns - top-level sentences Now, parsed documents should be full annotated by `CAst` nodes.
2018-02-27Update headers following #6543.Théo Zimmermann
2018-02-22[ast] Improve precision of Ast location recognition in serialization.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We follow the suggestions in #402 and turn uses of `Loc.located` in `vernac` into `CAst.t`. The impact should be low as this change mostly affects top-level vernaculars. With this change, we are even closer to automatically map a text document to its AST in a programmatic way.
2018-02-20Moving the argument of CProdN/CLambdaN from binder_expr to local_binder_expr.Hugo Herbelin
The motivations are: - To reflect the concrete syntax more closely. - To factorize the different places where "contexts" are internalized: before this patch, there is a different treatment of `Definition f '(x,y) := x+y` and `Definition f := fun '(x,y) => x+y`, and a hack to interpret `Definition f `pat := c : t`. With the patch, the fix to avoid seeing a variable named `pat` works for both `fun 'x => ...` and `Definition f 'x := ...`. The drawbacks are: - Counterpart to reflecting the concrete syntax more closerly, there are more redundancies in the syntax. For instance, the case `CLetIn (na,b,t,c)` can appears also in the form `CProdN (CLocalDef (na,b,t)::rest,d)` and `CLambdaN (CLocalDef (na,b,t)::rest,d)`. - Changes in the API, hence adaptation of plugins referring to `constr_expr` needed.
2017-12-11Remove deprecated option Tactic Compat Context.Théo Zimmermann
And some code simplification.
2017-11-24Extending further PR#6047 (system to register printers for Ltac values).Hugo Herbelin
We generalize the possible use of levels to raw and glob printers. This is potentially useful for printing ltac expressions which are the glob level.
2017-11-24Printing again "intros **" as "intros" by default.Hugo Herbelin
The rationale it that it is more common to do so and thus more "natural" (principle of writing less whenever possible).
2017-11-21[printing] Deprecate all printing functions accessing the global proof.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We'd like to handle proofs functionally we thus recommend not to use printing functions without an explicit context. We also adapt most of the code, making more explicit where the printing environment is coming from. An open task is to refactor some code so we gradually make the `Pfedit.get_current_context ()` disappear.
2017-11-20Fixes #5787 (printing of "constr:" lost in the move of constr to Generic).Hugo Herbelin
Was broken since 8.6.
2017-11-15Fixing printing of tactics encapsulated as tacarg with Tacexp.Hugo Herbelin
We preserve the level instead of resetting it at level 0. Probably it would be the same as giving level ltop since Tacexp apparently comes only from using a tactic in an Ltac "let", which is where I observed a problem.
2017-11-15Using "l" printer for glob_constr, like for constr.Hugo Herbelin
This is to avoid excessive parentheses, in particular when printing "constr:()" in "Print Ltac f".
2017-11-13Merge PR #6098: [api] Move structures deprecated in the API to the core.Maxime Dénès
2017-11-06[api] Move structures deprecated in the API to the core.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We do up to `Term` which is the main bulk of the changes.
2017-11-04Adding support for syntax "let _ := e in e'" in Ltac.Hugo Herbelin
Adding a file fixing #5996 and which uses this feature.
2017-11-02Binding ltac printing functions to the system of generic printing.Hugo Herbelin
This concerns pr_value and message_of_value. This has a few consequences. For instance, no more ad hoc message "a term" or "a tactic", when not enough information is available for printing, one gets a generic message "a value of type foobar". But we also have more printers, satisfying e.g. request #5786.
2017-11-02Setting a system to register printers for Ltac values.Hugo Herbelin
The model provides three kinds of printers depending on whether the printer needs a context, and, if yes if it supports levels. In the latter case, it takes defaults levels for printing when in a surrounded context (lconstr style) and for printing when not in a surrounded context (constr style). This model preserves the 8.7 focussing semantics of "idtac" (i.e. focussing only when an env is needed) but it also shows that the semantics of "idtac", which focusses the goal depending on the type of its arguments, is a bit ad hoc to understand. See discussion at PR#6047 "https://github.com/coq/coq/pull/6047#discussion_r148278454".
2017-11-02Using a specific function to register vernac printers.Hugo Herbelin
2017-11-02Exporting a few more printing functions.Hugo Herbelin
2017-10-03Moving the Ltac-specific part of the nametab to the Ltac plugin.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
For now, a few vernacular features were lot in the process, like locating Ltac definitions. This will be fixed in an upcoming commit.
2017-10-03Merge PR #1097: Properly display the "only" prefix for selectors (bug #5760).Maxime Dénès
2017-09-28Efficient fresh name generation relying on sets.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
The old algorithm was relying on list membership, which is O(n). This was nefarious for terms with many binders. We use instead sets in O(log n).
2017-09-26Properly display the "only" prefix for selectors (bug #5760).Guillaume Melquiond
This commit also fixes range selectors being incorrectly displayed.
2017-09-04Making detyping potentially lazy.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
The internal detype function takes an additional arguments dictating whether it should be eager or lazy. We introduce a new type of delayed `DAst.t` AST nodes and use it for `glob_constr`. Such type, instead of only containing a value, it can contain a lazy computation too. We use a GADT to discriminate between both uses statically, so that no delayed terms ever happen to be marshalled (which would raise anomalies). We also fix a regression in the test-suite: Mixing laziness and effects is a well-known hell. Here, an exception that was raised for mere control purpose was delayed and raised at a later time as an anomaly. We make the offending function eager.
2017-08-29A new step of restructuration of notations.Hugo Herbelin
This allows to issue a more appropriate message when a notation with a { } cannot be defined because of an incompatible level. E.g.: Notation "{ A } + B" := (sumbool A B) (at level 20).

2017-06-06Remove the Sigma (monotonous state) API.Maxime Dénès
Reminder of (some of) the reasons for removal: - Despite the claim in sigma.mli, it does *not* prevent evar leaks, something like: fun env evd -> let (evd',ev) = new_evar env evd in (evd,ev) will typecheck even with Sigma-like type annotations (with a proof of reflexivity) - The API stayed embryonic. Even typing functions were not ported to Sigma. - Some unsafe combinators (Unsafe.tclEVARS) were replaced with slightly less unsafe ones (e.g. s_enter), but those ones were not marked unsafe at all (despite still being so). - There was no good story for higher order functions manipulating evar maps. Without higher order, one can most of the time get away with reusing the same name for the updated evar map. - Most of the code doing complex things with evar maps was using unsafe casts to sigma. This code should be fixed, but this is an orthogonal issue. Of course, this was showing a nice and elegant use of GADTs, but the cost/benefit ratio in practice did not seem good.

2017-06-01[printing] Remove duplicated printing function.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
It seems there were 4 copies of the same function in the code base.
2017-05-31Creating a module Nameops.Name extending module Names.Name.Hugo Herbelin
This module collects the functions of Nameops which are about Name.t and somehow standardize or improve their name, resulting in particular from discussions in working group. Note the use of a dedicated exception rather than a failwith for Nameops.Name.out. Drawback of the approach: one needs to open Nameops, or to use long prefix Nameops.Name.
2017-05-30Adding "epose", "eset", "eremember" which allow to set terms withHugo Herbelin
evars. This is for consistency with the rest of the language. For instance, "eremember" and "epose" are supposed to refer to terms occurring in the goal, hence not leaving evars, hence in general pointless. Eventually, I guess that "e" should be a modifier (see e.g. the discussion at #3872), or the difference is removed.
2017-05-30Adding "eassert", "eenough", "epose proof", which allow to stateHugo Herbelin
a goal with unresolved evars.
2017-05-27[cleanup] Unify all calls to the error function.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is the continuation of #244, we now deprecate `CErrors.error`, the single entry point in Coq is `user_err`. The rationale is to allow for easier grepping, and to ease a future cleanup of error messages. In particular, we would like to systematically classify all error messages raised by Coq and be sure they are properly documented. We restore the two functions removed in #244 to improve compatibility, but mark them deprecated.
