2020-05-07Deprecate the legacy tacticals from module Refiner.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
2020-05-07Remove call to Refiner API from Funind.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
2020-04-10[ocamlformat] Enable for funind.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
As part of the proof refactoring work I am doing some modifications to `funind` and indentation of that code is driving me a bit crazy; I'd much prefer to delegate it to an automatic tool.
2020-04-06Clean and fix definitions of options.Théo Zimmermann
- Provide new helper functions in `Goptions` on the model of `declare_bool_option_and_ref`; - Use these helper functions in many parts of the code base (encapsulates the corresponding references); - Move almost all options from `declare_string_option` to `declare_stringopt_option` (only "Warnings" continue to use the former). This means that these options now support `Unset` to get back to the default setting. Note that there is a naming misalignment since `declare_int_option` is similar to `declare_stringopt_option` and supports `Unset`. When "Warning" is eventually migrated to support `Unset` as well, we can remove `declare_string_option` and rename `declare_stringopt_option` to `declare_string_option`. - For some vernac options and flags that have an equivalent command-line option or flag, implement it like the standard `-set` and `-unset`.

2020-03-03[exninfo] Deprecate aliases for exception re-raising.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We make the primitives for backtrace-enriched exceptions canonical in the `Exninfo` module, deprecating all other aliases. At some point dependencies between `CErrors` and `Exninfo` were a bit complex, after recent clean-ups the roles seem much clearer so we can have a single place for `iraise` and `capture`.
2020-02-12Remove Goptions.opt_name fieldGaëtan Gilbert
The standard use is to repeat the option keywords in lowercase, which is basically useless. En passant add doc entry for Dump Arith.

2019-10-25[funind] Removed dead code.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2019-08-29[funind] Don't export duplicate save function.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
It will take a bit more to clean up the mess with entries in the `indfun` plugin [quite a few PRs in the queue], but thanks to recent refactoring the tricky parts are self-contained now in `gen_principle` so we can remove the duplicated `save` function from the public API.

2019-08-27[declare] Move proof_entry type to declare, put interactive proof data on ↵Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
top of declare. This PR is a follow up to #10406 , moving the then introduced `proof_entry` type to `Declare`. This makes sense as `Declare` is the main consumer of the entry type, and already provides the constructors for it. This is a step towards making the entry type private, which will allow us to enforce / handle invariants on entry data better. A side-effect of this PR is that now `Proof_global` does depend on `Declare`, not the other way around, but that makes sense given that closing an interactive proof will be a client of declare. Indeed, all `Declare` / `Pfedit` / and `Proof_global` are tied into tactics due to `abstract`, at some point we may be able to unify all them into a single file in `vernac`.
2019-08-27[cleanup] Replace uses of UserError constructor, clarify exception names.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We replace some uses of `raise (UserError ...)` with `CErrors.user_err`, ideally we would like to make the error raising API not depend on the exception themselves, but that's still a long way to go. We also rename the `Timeout` exception as to clarify purpose in the codebase, given that it has 3 different ones as of today. cc: #7560
2019-08-07[funind] Move some exception-based control flow to explicit option typing.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2019-08-07[funind] Port indfun to the new tactic engine.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2019-07-31[funind] Move duplicated `observe_tac` function to indfun_common.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We also attempt a version that may work with `Proofview.tactic` , may need more work.

2019-07-31[funind] Move principle generation to its own file.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2019-07-08[api] Deprecate GlobRef constructors.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Not pretty, but it had to be done some day, as `Globnames` seems to be on the way out. I have taken the opportunity to reduce the number of `open` in the codebase. The qualified style would indeed allow us to use a bit nicer names `GlobRef.Inductive` instead of `IndRef`, etc... once we have the tooling to do large-scale refactoring that could be tried.
2019-07-03declare_variable: path is always Lib.cwd()Gaëtan Gilbert
2019-07-03Declare section variables in direct style "without" an objectGaëtan Gilbert
The object was mostly for wrangling universes, but we already have the universe object for that. It's also used by some code which iterates over objects to find variables. Search used to do this but was changed in a previous commit. Prettyp.print_context and derivatives do this and I don't understand it enough to fix it, so I kept a dummy object around. It seems like a not very common used Print family (not documented AFAICT) so maybe we should remove it all instead.
2019-07-01[decls] Remove goal_object_kind type.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We can use logical kind for the same purpose, which is mainly dumpglob, so `goal_object_kind` was never matched against, making this transformation safe.
2019-07-01[declare] Separate kinds from entries in constant declarationEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
They are clearly not at the same importance level, thus we use a named parameter and isolate the kinds as to allow further improvements and refactoring.
2019-07-01[api] Refactor most of `Decl_kinds`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move the bulk of `Decl_kinds` to a better place [namely `interp/decls`] and refactor the use of this information quite a bit. The information seems to be used almost only for `Dumpglob`, so it certainly should end there to achieve a cleaner core. Note the previous commits, as well as the annotations regarding the dubious use of the "variable" data managed by the `Decls` file. IMO this needs more work, but this should be a good start.
2019-06-26[declare] Fine tuning of Hook type.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We turn the hook parameter into a record, making more explicit the capture of data in hooks as they only take one parameter now This is a fine-tuning but provides some small advantages, and allows us to tweak the hook type with less breakage.
2019-06-24[api] Move `locality` from `library` to `vernac`.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This datatype does belong to this layer.
2019-06-24[lemmas] [proof] Split proof kinds into per-layer components.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We split `{goal,declaration,assumption}_kind` into their components. This makes sense as each part of this triple is handled by a different layer, namely: - `polymorphic` status: necessary for the lower engine layers; - `locality`: only used in `vernac` top-level constants - `kind`: merely used for cosmetic purposes [could indeed be removed / pushed upwards] We also profit from this refactoring to add some named parameters to the top-level definition API which is quite parameter-hungry. More refactoring is possible and will come in further commits, in particular this is a step towards unifying the definition / lemma save path.
2019-06-24[proof] Remove duplicated universe polymorphic from decl_kindsEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This information is already present on `Proof.t`, so we extract it form there. Moreover, this information is essential to the lower-level proof, as opposed to the "kind" information which is only relevant to the vernac layer; we will move it thus to its proper layer in subsequent commits.
2019-06-24Duplicate the type of constant entries in Proof_global.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
This allows to desynchronize the kernel-facing API from the proof-facing one.
2019-06-17[proof] Move declaration hooks to DeclareDef.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This way both `Lemmas` and `DeclareObl` can depend on it, removing one more difficulty on the unification of terminators.
2019-06-12[funind] Untabify; necessary to ease the review of subsequent work.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
2019-06-08Cleaning the status of Local Definition and similar.Hugo Herbelin
Formerly, knowing if a declaration was to be discharged, to be global but invisible at import, or to be global but visible at import was obtained by combining the parser-level information (i.e. use of Variable/Hypothesis/Let vs use of Axiom/Parameter/Definition/..., use of Local vs Global) with the result of testing whether there were open sections. We change the meaning of the Discharge flag: it does not tell anymore that it was syntactically a Variable/Hypothesis/Let, but tells the expected semantics of the declaration (issuing a warning in the parser-to-interpreter step if the semantics is not the one suggested by the syntax). In particular, the interpretation/command engine becomes independent of the parser. The new "semantic" type is: type import_status = ImportDefaultBehavior | ImportNeedQualified type locality = Discharge | Global of import_status In the process, we found a couple of inconsistencies in the treatment of the locality status. See bug #8722 and test file LocalDefinition.v.

2018-11-30[vernac] [hooks] Refactor towards optional hooks.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We make `declaration_hook`s optional arguments everywhere, and thus we avoid some "fake" functions having to be passed. This identifies positively the code really using hooks [funind, rewrite, coercions, program, and canonicals] and helps moving toward some hope of reification.

2018-10-18[universes] deprecate constr_of_globalMatthieu Sozeau
In favor of a constr_of_monomorphic_global function. When people move to the new Coqlib interface they will also see this deprecation message encouraging them to think about the best move. This commit changes a few references to constr_of_global and replaces them with a constr_of_monomorphic_global which makes it apparent that this is not the function to call to globalize polymorphic references. The remaining parts using constr_of_monomorphic_global are easily identifiable using this: omega, btauto, ring, funind and auto_ind_decl mainly (this fixes firstorder). What this means is that the symbols registered for these tactics have to be monomorphic for now.
2018-10-10[coqlib] Rebindable Coqlib namespace.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We refactor the `Coqlib` API to locate objects over a namespace `module.object.property`. This introduces the vernacular command `Register g as n` to expose the Coq constant `g` under the name `n` (through the `register_ref` function). The constant can then be dynamically located using the `lib_ref` function. 2018-10-05[kernel] Remove section paths from `KerName.t`Maxime Dénès
We remove sections paths from kernel names. This is a cleanup as most of the times this information was unused. This implies a change in the Kernel API and small user visible changes with regards to tactic qualification. In particular, the removal of "global discharge" implies a large cleanup of code. Additionally, the change implies that some machinery in `library` and `safe_typing` must now take an `~in_section` parameter, as to provide the information whether a section is open or not.
2018-06-18Remove reference name type.Maxime Dénès
reference was defined as Ident or Qualid, but the qualid type already permits empty paths. So we had effectively two representations for unqualified names, that were not seen as equal by eq_reference. We remove the reference type and replace its uses by qualid.
2018-05-30[api] Remove deprecated object from `Term`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We remove most of what was deprecated in `Term`. Now, `intf` and `kernel` are almost deprecation-free, tho I am not very convinced about the whole `Term -> Constr` renaming but I'm afraid there is no way back. Inconsistencies with the constructor policy (see #6440) remain along the code-base and I'm afraid I don't see a plan to reconcile them. The `Sorts` deprecation is hard to finalize, opening `Sorts` is not a good idea as someone added a `List` module inside it.
