This is the "error resiliency" mode for STM
|
|
For now, the pack name reuse the previous .cma name of the plugin,
(extraction_plugin, etc).
The earlier .mllib files in plugins are now named .mlpack.
They are also handled by bin/ocamllibdep, just as .mllib.
We've slightly modified ocamllibdep to help setting the -for-pack
options: in *.mlpack.d files, there are some extra variables such as
foo/bar_FORPACK := -for-pack Baz
when foo/bar.ml is mentioned in baz.mlpack.
When a plugin is calling a function from another plugin, the name
need to be qualified (Foo_plugin.Bar.baz instead of Bar.baz).
Btw, we discard the generated files plugins/*/*_mod.ml, they are
obsolete now, replaced by DECLARE PLUGIN.
Nota: there's a potential problem in the micromega directory,
some .ml files are linked both in micromega_plugin and in csdpcert.
And we now compile these files with a -for-pack, even if they are
not packed in the case of csdpcert. In practice, csdpcert seems
to work well, but we should verify with OCaml experts.

This commit introduces the concept of proof blocks that are
resilient to errors. They are represented as ErrorBound boxes
in the STM document with the topological invariant that they never
overlap.
The detection and error recovery of ErrorBound boxes is defined outside
the STM. One can define a box by providing a function to detect it
statically by crawling the parsed document and a function to recover
from an error at run time.

This patch splits pretty printing representation from IO operations.
- `Pp` is kept in charge of the abstract pretty printing representation.
- The `Feedback` module provides interface for doing printing IO.
The patch continues work initiated for 8.5 and has the following effects:
- The following functions in `Pp`: `pp`, `ppnl`, `pperr`, `pperrnl`,
`pperr_flush`, `pp_flush`, `flush_all`, `msg`, `msgnl`, `msgerr`,
`msgerrnl`, `message` are removed. `Feedback.msg_*` functions must be
used instead.
- Feedback provides different backends to handle output, currently,
`stdout`, `emacs` and CoqIDE backends are provided.
- Clients cannot specify flush policy anymore, thus `pp_flush` et al are
gone.
- `Feedback.feedback` takes an `edit_or_state_id` instead of the old
mix.
Lightly tested: Test-suite passes, Proof General and CoqIDE seem to work.

It is indeed confusing, as it has little to do with the proper refine defined
in the New submodule. Legacy code relying on it should call the Logic or
Tacmach modules instead.

The glob_expr was actually always embedded as a VFun, so this patch should
not change anything semantically. The only change occurs in the plugin API
where one should use the Tacinterp.tactic_of_value function instead of
Tacinterp.eval_tactic.
Moreover, this patch allows to use tactics returning arguments from the ML
side.

Suppose that you do not know about rel-context and named-context.
(that is the case of people who just started to read the source code)
Merlin would tell you that the type of the value you are destructing
by "match" is:
'a * 'b option * Constr.t (* worst-case scenario *)
or
Named.Name.t * Constr.t option * Constr.t (* best-case scenario (?) *)
To me, this is akin to wearing an opaque veil.
It is hard to figure out the meaning of the values you are looking at.
In particular, it is hard to discover the connection between the value
we are destructing above and the datatypes and functions defined
in the "kernel/context.ml" file.
In this case, the connection is there, but it is not visible
(between the function above and the "Context" module).

Now consider, what happens when the reader see the same function
presented in the following form:

If the reader haven't seen "LocalAssum" before, (s)he can use Merlin
to jump to the corresponding definition and learn more.
In this case, the connection is there, and it is directly visible
(between the function above and the "Context" module).
(2) Also, if we already have the concepts such as:
- local declaration
- local assumption
- local definition
and we describe these notions meticulously in the Reference Manual,
then it is a real pity not to reinforce the connection
of the actual code with the abstract description we published.

Some functions from pretyping/typing.ml and their derivatives were potential
source of evarmap leaks, as they dropped their resulting evarmap. This commit
clarifies the situation by renaming them according to a unsafe_* scheme. Their
sound variant is likewise renamed to their old name. The following renamings
were made.
- Typing.type_of -> unsafe_type_of
- Typing.e_type_of -> type_of
- A new e_type_of function that matches the e_ prefix policy
- Tacmach.pf_type_of -> pf_unsafe_type_of
- A new safe pf_type_of function.
All uses of unsafe_* functions should be eventually eliminated.

`end proof` changes the proof mode to `"Classic"`.

So that the commands are assigned the appropriate status of syntax-changing or not, as well as the proof mode they are setting.

It will not work in CoqIDE though, which handles printing its own way. It's a general remark that we have many ways of printing things in Coq and we should look for a unified structured framework to be shared between interfaces.

I had previously mistakenly enforced the property that after solving every goal in a block, unfocusing was performed automatically until one goal is in focus. This is not how the declarative mode is supposed to behave. Rather every focus must be explicitely unfocused by a closing command.
This hit a few bad interaction with the pure representation of proof introduced for the asynchronous processing.
Some of the invariants seem fragile, so this minimally disruptive solution is probably not long-term. In particular since each block uses the same focus kind, an `end <block>` may close another block than intended if the number of unfocussing command executed is not the right one.

After executing a command classified as VtProofStep the stm
prints the goals (if used via the tty API).

This new implementation now allows for simultaneous replacing of hypotheses,
thus fixing bug #2149.

That is [Tactics.New.refine]. Replaced it with a wrapper around the primitive refine [Proofview.Refine.refine], but with extra reductions on the resulting goals.
There was two used of this refine: one in the declarative mode, and one in type classes. The porting of the latter is likely to have introduced bugs.

Not very optimized though (if we apply convert_hyp on any hyp, a new
evar will be generated for every different hyp...).

This solution is a bit dumb, but I guess does what one expects.
Each decl mode proof commands stays in proof mode.
