2019-11-21[coq] Untabify the whole ML codebase.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We also remove trailing whitespace. Script used: ```bash for i in `find . -name '*.ml' -or -name '*.mli' -or -name '*.mlg'`; do expand -i "$i" | sponge "$i"; sed -e's/[[:space:]]*$//' -i.bak "$i"; done ```

2019-07-08[api] Deprecate GlobRef constructors.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Not pretty, but it had to be done some day, as `Globnames` seems to be on the way out. I have taken the opportunity to reduce the number of `open` in the codebase. The qualified style would indeed allow us to use a bit nicer names `GlobRef.Inductive` instead of `IndRef`, etc... once we have the tooling to do large-scale refactoring that could be tried.
2019-06-17Update ml-style headers to new year.Théo Zimmermann
2019-05-10[api] Remove 8.10 deprecations.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Some of them are significant so presumably it will take a bit of effort to fix overlays. I left out the removal of `nf_enter` for now as MTac2 needs some serious porting in order to avoid it.

comments.
2018-12-09[doc] Enable Warning 50 [incorrect doc comment] and fix comments.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is a pre-requisite to use automated formatting tools such as `ocamlformat`, also, there were quite a few places where the comments had basically no effect, thus it was confusing for the developer. p.s: Reading some comments was a lot of fun :)
2018-12-06Revise API for global universes.Gaëtan Gilbert
Rename Univ.Level.{Qualid -> UGlobal}, remove Univ.Level.Id. Remove the ability to split the argument of `Univ.Level.Level` into a dirpath*int pair (except by going through string hacks like detyping/pretyping(/funind) does). Id.of_string_soft to turn unnamed universes into qualid is pushed up to detyping. (TODO some followup PR clean up more) This makes it pointless to have an opaque type for ints in Univ.Level: it would only be used as argument to Univ.Level.UGlobal.make, ie ~~~ open Univ.Level let x = UGlobal.make dp (Id.make n) (* vs *) let x = UGlobal.make dp n ~~~ Remaining places which create levels from ints are various hacks (eg the dummy in inductive.ml, the Type.n universes in ugraph sort_universes) and univgen. UnivGen does have an opaque type for ints used as univ ids since they get manipulated by the stm. NB: build breaks due to ocamldep issue if UGlobal is named Global instead.
2018-12-06Fix race condition triggered by fresh universe generationMaxime Dénès
Remote counters were trying to build universe levels (as opposed to simple integers), but did not have access to the right dirpath at construction time. We fix it by constructing the level only at use time, and we introduce some abstractions for qualified and unqualified level names.
2018-11-05Merge PR #8871: [library] Move Nametab/Lib specific-names to NametabHugo Herbelin
2018-10-31[nametab] Move `object_prefix` to `Nametab`.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We move `object_prefix` to `Nametab`. This highlights the coupling of `Lib` and `Nametab` wrt naming. This also thins `Libname`, which IMHO is a good thing as we are talking about "local, internal" naming here.
2018-10-31[nametab] Move global_dir_reference to NametabEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This type is "private" to the Nametab, which manages it. It thus makes sense IMHO to live there.
2018-10-18[nametab] [api] Provide basic support for efficient completion.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We provide a function `completion_candidates id` that will return a list of candidates global references that have id as prefix. This should be reasonably efficient, however UI still need to call `shortest_qualid_of_global` which is a bit heavy. How to improve this in the future is an open question. cc: #7164
2018-10-04Simplify declaration of universe namesGaëtan Gilbert
Declaring the universe to the kernel/section mechanism is centralized to [Declare.declare_universe_context]. Then the universe name object really is only about the user visible names.
2018-09-19Replace trivial uses of declare_summary with summary.refsGaëtan Gilbert
The one in notation.ml looks trivial but is needed to do with_notation_protection (used by inductive/fixpoint local notations).
2018-06-18Remove reference name type.Maxime Dénès
reference was defined as Ident or Qualid, but the qualid type already permits empty paths. So we had effectively two representations for unqualified names, that were not seen as equal by eq_reference. We remove the reference type and replace its uses by qualid.
2018-04-24Remove DirClosedSection.Jasper Hugunin
This has been around for at least 16 years, with the comment "this won't last long I hope". https://github.com/coq/coq/commit/12965209478bd99dfbe57f07d5b525e51b903f22#diff-1a3a6f7bd5b2cf1bc6dd43ee04bbc3eaR112
2018-03-09[located] Push inner locations in `reference` to a CAst.t node.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
The `reference` type contains some ad-hoc locations in its constructors, but there is no reason not to handle them with the standard attribute container provided by `CAst.t`. An orthogonal topic to this commit is whether the `reference` type should contain a location or not at all. It seems that many places would become a bit clearer by splitting `reference` into non-located `reference` and `lreference`, however some other places become messier so we maintain the current status-quo for now.

2017-12-01Proper nametab handling of global universe namesMatthieu Sozeau
They are now bound at the library + module level and can be qualified and shadowed according to the usual rules of qualified names. Parsing and printing of universes "u+n" done as well. In sections, global universes are discharged as well, checking that they can be defined globally when they are introduced

2017-11-29[lib] [api] Introduce record for `object_prefix`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias

2017-05-27[cleanup] Unify all calls to the error function.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This is the continuation of #244, we now deprecate `CErrors.error`, the single entry point in Coq is `user_err`. The rationale is to allow for easier grepping, and to ease a future cleanup of error messages. In particular, we would like to systematically classify all error messages raised by Coq and be sure they are properly documented. We restore the two functions removed in #244 to improve compatibility, but mark them deprecated.
2017-04-25[location] Make location optional in Loc.locatedEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This completes the Loc.ghost removal, the idea is to gear the API towards optional, but uniform, location handling. We don't print <unknown> anymore in the case there is no location. This is what the test suite expects. The old printing logic for located items was a bit inconsistent as it sometimes printed <unknown> and other times it printed nothing as the caller checked for `is_ghost` upstream.

2016-08-19Unify location handling of error functions.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
In some cases prior to this patch, there were two cases for the same error function, one taking a location, the other not. We unify them by using an option parameter, in the line with recent changes in warnings and feedback. This implies a bit of clean up in some places, but more importantly, is the preparation for subsequent patches making `Loc.location` opaque, change that could be use to improve modularity and allow a more functional implementation strategy --- for example --- of the beautifier.

2016-06-29A new infrastructure for warnings.Maxime Dénès
On the user side, coqtop and coqc take a list of warning names or categories after -w. No prefix means activate the warning, a "-" prefix means deactivate it, and "+" means turn the warning into an error. Special categories include "all", and "default" which contains the warnings enabled by default. We also provide a vernacular Set Warnings which takes the same flags as argument. Note that coqc now prints warnings. The name and category of a warning are printed with the warning itself. On the developer side, Feedback.msg_warning is still accessible, but the recommended way to print a warning is in two steps: 1) create it by: let warn_my_warning = CWarnings.create ~name:"my-warning" ~category:"my-category" (fun args -> Pp.strbrk ...) 2) print it by: warn_my_warning args
2016-05-31Feedback cleanupEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This patch splits pretty printing representation from IO operations. - `Pp` is kept in charge of the abstract pretty printing representation. - The `Feedback` module provides interface for doing printing IO. The patch continues work initiated for 8.5 and has the following effects: - The following functions in `Pp`: `pp`, `ppnl`, `pperr`, `pperrnl`, `pperr_flush`, `pp_flush`, `flush_all`, `msg`, `msgnl`, `msgerr`, `msgerrnl`, `message` are removed. `Feedback.msg_*` functions must be used instead. - Feedback provides different backends to handle output, currently, `stdout`, `emacs` and CoqIDE backends are provided. - Clients cannot specify flush policy anymore, thus `pp_flush` et al are gone. - `Feedback.feedback` takes an `edit_or_state_id` instead of the old mix. Lightly tested: Test-suite passes, Proof General and CoqIDE seem to work.

2015-12-22Do not compose "str" and "to_string" whenever possible.Guillaume Melquiond
For instance, calling only Id.print is faster than calling both str and Id.to_string, since the latter performs a copy. It also makes the code a bit simpler to read.

2014-09-03Fixing bug #2818.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
Local Ltac definitions do not register their name in the nametab anymore, thus elegantly solving the bug. The tactic body remains accessible from the tactic engine, but the name is rendered meaningless to the userside.

2014-07-21Adding a new "Locate Term" command, distinct from the raw "Locate" command.Pierre-Marie Pédrot
The new Term version has essentially the same behaviour as the old "Locate", while the new raw searches for all types of objects. Also code merging with the "Locate Ltac". Fixes bug #3380.

2013-10-24More monomorphic List.mem + List.assoc + ...letouzey
To reduce the amount of syntactic noise, we now provide a few inner modules Int.List, Id.List, String.List, Sorts.List which contain some monomorphic (or semi-monomorphic) functions such as mem, assoc, ... NB: for Int.List.mem and co we reuse List.memq and so on. git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@16936 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7
2013-08-08State Transaction Machinegareuselesinge
The process_transaction function adds a new edge to the Dag without executing the transaction (when possible). The observe id function runs the transactions necessary to reach to the state id. Transaction being on a merged branch are not executed but stored into a future. The finish function calls observe on the tip of the current branch. Imperative modifications to the environment made by some tactics are now explicitly declared by the tactic and modeled as let-in/beta-redexes at the root of the proof term. An example is the abstract tactic. This is the work described in the Coq Workshop 2012 paper. Coq is compile with thread support from now on. git-svn-id: svn+ssh://scm.gforge.inria.fr/svn/coq/trunk@16674 85f007b7-540e-0410-9357-904b9bb8a0f7
