2017-11-26[api] Remove aliases of `Evar.t`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
There don't really bring anything, we also correct some minor nits with the printing function.

2017-11-22[plugin] Remove LocalityFixme über hack.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
To that extent we introduce a new prototype vernacular extension macro `VERNAC COMMAND FUNCTIONAL EXTEND` that will take a function with the proper parameters and attributes. This of course needs more refinement, in particular we should move `vernac_command` to its own file and make `Vernacentries` consistent wrt it.
2017-11-21[api] Miscellaneous consolidation + moves to engine.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We deprecate a few functions that were deprecated in the comments plus we place `Nameops` and `Univops` in engine where they do seem to belong in the large picture of code organization.
2017-11-21[printing] Deprecate all printing functions accessing the global proof.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We'd like to handle proofs functionally we thus recommend not to use printing functions without an explicit context. We also adapt most of the code, making more explicit where the printing environment is coming from. An open task is to refactor some code so we gradually make the `Pfedit.get_current_context ()` disappear.
2017-11-19[plugins] Prepare plugin API for functional handling of state.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
To this purpose we allow plugins to register functions that will modify the state. This is not used yet, but will be used soon when we remove the global handling of the proof state.

2017-11-08Adding a debugging printer for ident maps whose codomain type is unknown.Hugo Herbelin
Actually, ocaml is apparently doing well. If there is a printer for 'a Id.Map.t and another for say Id.t Id.Map.id, it uses the most defined existing ones, so, it is apparently not a problem to have overlapping printer.
2017-11-06[api] Move structures deprecated in the API to the core.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
We do up to `Term` which is the main bulk of the changes.
2017-11-06[api] Deprecate all legacy uses of Names in core.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This will allow to merge back `Names` with `API.Names`
2017-11-01provide "loc : Loc.t" binding within "VERNAC COMMAND EXTEND" rulesMatej Košík
Originally, it was not possible to define a new vernacular command in the following way: VERNAC COMMAND EXTEND Cmd6 CLASSIFIED AS QUERY [ "SomeCmd" ] -> [ Feedback.msg_notice ?loc (Pp.str "some message") ] END because "loc : Loc.t" was not bound. This commit fixes that, i.e. the location of the custom Vernacular command (within *.v file) is made available as "loc" variable bound on the right side of "->" .
2017-10-25[general] Remove Econstr dependency from `intf`Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
To this extent we factor out the relevant bits to a new file, ltac_pretype.
2017-07-25[api] Remove type equalities from API.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This ensures that the API is self-contained and is, well, an API. Before this patch, the contents of `API.mli` bore little relation with what was used by the plugins [example: `Metasyntax` in tacentries.ml]. Many missing types had to be added. A sanity check of the `API.mli` file can be done with: `ocamlfind ocamlc -rectypes -package camlp5 -I lib API/API.mli`

Except I have disabled the minimization of universes after sections as it seems to interfere with the STM machinery causing files like test-suite/vio/print.v to loop when processed asynchronously. This is very peculiar and needs more investigation as the aforementioned file does not have any sections or any universe polymorphic definitions! commit fc785326080b9451eb4700b16ccd3f7df214e0ed Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Mon Apr 24 17:14:21 2017 +0200 Revert STL to monomorphic commit 62b573fb13d290d8fe4c85822da62d3e5e2a6996 Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Mon Apr 24 17:02:42 2017 +0200 Try unifying universes before apply subtyping commit ff393742c37b9241c83498e84c2274967a1a58dc Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Sun Apr 23 13:49:04 2017 +0200 Compile more of STL with universe polymorphism commit 5c831b41ebd1fc32e2dd976697c8e474f48580d6 Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Tue Apr 18 21:26:45 2017 +0200 Made more progress on compiling the standard library commit b8550ffcce0861794116eb3b12b84e1158c2b4f8 Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Sun Apr 16 22:55:19 2017 +0200 Make more number theoretic modules monomorphic commit 29d126d4d4910683f7e6aada2a25209151e41b10 Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Fri Apr 14 16:11:48 2017 +0200 WIP more of standard library compiles Also: Matthieu fixed a bug in rewrite system which was faulty when introducing new morphisms (Add Morphism) command. commit 23bc33b843f098acaba4c63c71c68f79c4641f8c Author: Amin Timany <amintimany@gmail.com> Date: Fri Apr 14 11:39:21 2017 +0200 WIP: more of the standard library compiles We have implemented convertibility of constructors up-to mutual subtyping of their corresponding inductive types. 2017-03-21[pp] Make feedback the only logging mechanism.Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias
Previously to this patch, Coq featured to distinct logging paths: the console legacy one, based on `Pp.std_ppcmds` and Ocaml's `Format` module, and the `Feedback` one, intended to encapsulate message inside a more general, GUI-based feedback protocol. This patch removes the legacy logging path and makes feedback canonical. Thus, the core of Coq has no dependency on console code anymore. Additionally, this patch resolves the duplication of "document" formats present in the same situation. The original console-based printing code relied on an opaque datatype `std_ppcmds`, (mostly a reification of `Format`'s format strings) that could be then rendered to the console. However, the feedback path couldn't reuse this type due to its opaque nature. The first versions just embedded rending of `std_ppcmds` to a string, however in 8.5 a new "rich printing" type, `Richpp.richpp` was introduced. The idea for this type was to be serializable, however it brought several problems: it didn't have proper document manipulation operations, its format was overly verbose and didn't preserve the full layout, and it still relied on `Format` for generation, making client-side rendering difficult. We thus follow the plan outlined in CEP#9, that is to say, we take a public and refactored version of `std_ppcmds` as the canonical "document type", and move feedback to be over there. The toplevel now is implemented as a feedback listener and has ownership of the console. `richpp` is now IDE-specific, and only used for legacy rendering. It could go away in future versions. `std_ppcmds` carries strictly more information and is friendlier to client-side rendering and display control. Thus, the new panorama is: - `Feedback` has become a very module for event dispatching. - `Pp` contains a target-independent box-based document format. It also contains the `Format`-based renderer. - All console access lives in `toplevel`, with console handlers private to coqtop. _NOTE_: After this patch, many printing parameters such as printing width or depth should be set client-side. This works better IMO, clients don't need to notify Coq about resizing anywmore. Indeed, for box-based capable backends such as HTML or LaTeX, the UI can directly render and let the engine perform the word breaking work. _NOTE_: Many messages could benefit from new features of the output format, however we have chosen not to alter them to preserve output. A Future commits will move console tag handling in `Pp_style` to `toplevel/`, where it logically belongs. The only change with regards to printing is that the "Error:" header was added to console output in several different positions, we have removed some of this duplication, now error messages should be a bit more consistent.

2016-05-31Feedback cleanupEmilio Jesus Gallego Arias
This patch splits pretty printing representation from IO operations. - `Pp` is kept in charge of the abstract pretty printing representation. - The `Feedback` module provides interface for doing printing IO. The patch continues work initiated for 8.5 and has the following effects: - The following functions in `Pp`: `pp`, `ppnl`, `pperr`, `pperrnl`, `pperr_flush`, `pp_flush`, `flush_all`, `msg`, `msgnl`, `msgerr`, `msgerrnl`, `message` are removed. `Feedback.msg_*` functions must be used instead. - Feedback provides different backends to handle output, currently, `stdout`, `emacs` and CoqIDE backends are provided. - Clients cannot specify flush policy anymore, thus `pp_flush` et al are gone. - `Feedback.feedback` takes an `edit_or_state_id` instead of the old mix. Lightly tested: Test-suite passes, Proof General and CoqIDE seem to work.
2016-05-26Pfedit.get_current_context refinement (fix #4523)Matthieu Sozeau
Return the most appropriate evar_map for commands that can run on non-focused proofs (like Check, Show and debug printers) so that universes and existentials are printed correctly (they are global to the proof). The API is backwards compatible.
