2013-03-12Restrict (try...with...) to avoid catching critical exn (part 1)letouzey
Why? : avoid catching (and probably ignoring) exceptions such as Sys.Break, anomalies, assertions, leading to undetected bugs and ignored Ctrl-C. How? : when the precise exception(s) concerned by the try is known, use them explicitely in the "with". Otherwise, let's use the pattern "with e when Errors.noncritical e -> " Particular case : when an exception is catched and reraised immediately after some adjustments, we leave it untouched. Simply, for easily identifying these situations later, the name of the exception variable is changed to "reraise". Please also adopt this coding style. Automatic checks based on the "mascot" tool of X. Clerc will be runned regularly. If you want to avoid to check a particular try...with, use the variable name "any" after the "with". All these changes have been tested using the standard library and the test-suite, but unfortunately this is far from ensuring that coqtop behaves as before. 2012-10-04Moved Compat to parsing. This permits to break the dependency of theppedrot
kernel on CAMLP4/5 structures, and consequently should also erase such structures from vo files. This modification requires some code duplication, mainly while reimplementing our own location data type. 2010-05-19Add (almost) compatibility with camlp4, without breaking support for camlp5letouzey
The choice between camlp4/5 is done during configure with flags -usecamlp5 (default for the moment) vs. -usecamlp4. Currently, to have a full camlp4 compatibility, you need to change all "EXTEND" and "GEXTEND Gram" into "EXTEND Gram", and change "EOI" into "`EOI" in grammar entries. I've a sed script that does that (actually the converse), but I prefer to re-think it and check a few things before branching this sed into the build mechanism. lib/compat.ml4 is heavily used to hide incompatibilities between camlp4/5 and try to propose a common interface (cf LexerSig / GrammarSig). A few incompatible quotations have been turned into underlying code manually, in order to make the IFDEF CAMLP5 THEN ... ELSE ... END parsable by both camlp4 and 5. See in particular the fate of <:str_item< declare ... end >> Stdpp isn't used anymore, but rather Ploc (hidden behind local module Loc).
